The operation and the material decide it. As a general guide:
| Soluble (water-mix) | Mixed with water into a milky emulsion. It cools and lubricates for general CNC turning, milling, drilling and grinding, and is the everyday choice for most machining units. |

| Neat (straight) | Used undiluted. It gives more lubricity for threading, tapping, broaching, gear cutting and heavy, low-speed cuts, where finish and tool life matter more than cooling. |
| Mixing ratio | The right concentration depends on the product and the operation, and the data sheet gives the range. Tell us the material and operation and we will suggest a starting ratio. |
| Rust protection | For machined parts that wait before assembly or dispatch, ask about rust-preventive oils such as Arabian (SPL) Rustcoat 173. |
